Anti-slip coverings for scuddy electric scooters
Cooperation with SFS since 2012
Tim Ascheberg, one of the founders of scuddy GmbH&Co.KG, had the groundbreaking idea to develop innovative, trendy as well as foldable electric scooters “Made in Germany”. The result was the “scuddy” scooter, also known from the VOX start-up show “Die Höhle der Löwen”.
In addition to incomparable riding fun, the product development focused on suitability for everyday use, safety and approval in accordance with German traffic regulations. This also made the anti-slip equipment of the electric scooter’s treads absolutely necessary.
This is where the SFS development team came into play.
Based on product drawings, we worked out various anti-slip solutions in cooperation with Mr. Ascheberg. The selection of the right anti-slip coating was supported by extensive adhesive tests in the laboratory and additional field tests.
The choice fell on our Safety-Floor Standard Coarse anti-slip covering. Due to its PET base film, this flooring is particularly wear and tear resistant and its coarse granulation provides long-lasting and reliable slip resistance.
We are proud to have made a significant contribution to this innovative product “Made in Germany” with our anti-slip flooring.
Safety-Stair step profiles
Sansibar - more than just a wooden hut in the dunes of Sylt
For many holidaymakers, it’s simply part of the experience – a visit to Germany’s most famous beach bar, the “Sansibar” on Sylt.
The unpretentious wooden pub, the famous wine cellar and the legendary curry sausage attract up to 3,000 guests a day.
Such a large number of guests, who want to be catered for every day, also poses a logistical challenge for the numerous staff. The staircase leading up and down to the storage rooms and the famous wine cellar, for example, is one of the most frequented areas in the Sansibar.
In order to prevent the employees from falling and slipping during the hectic business operations, the Sansibar approached us. After a brief consultation about the spatial conditions, frequency of use, etc., we recommended our Safety-Stair step profiles to Sansibar. These have been developed by us with a highly slip-resistant insert especially for such high-demand areas.
We are especially pleased that we were able to help make this beautiful place a little safer with this project!
Guidance system for people with visual impairments
Schwimmoper Wuppertal - an architectural landmark for over 60 years
Alongside the suspension railway and Wuppertal Zoo, the listed Swimming Opera House is a well-known landmark of the city in the region „Bergisches Land“.
In 2010, the Schwimmoper was renovated at great expense. In this context, improvements were also made in the area of accessibility.
We equipped the entrance area of the Schwimmoper with a retrofittable guidance system for people with visual impairments. Our Safety-Floor Ultra R floor marking tape was used for this. This tape has a surface made of abrasion-resistant and easy-to-clean glass beads. The rough and easy-to-touch surface is both haptically and acoustically very perceptible with a cane for the blind.
This solution can be easily retrofitted and is therefore an attractive alternative from SFS for municipalities and authorities, also in terms of cost.
